Chromotherapy is a color healing practice dating back to ancient Egypt, Greece, and China. These ancient civilizations used filter-color light rooms to address physical and physiological afflictions. Color is a compilation of light and vibrating wavelengths. Because the human body is a makeup of vibrating atoms, it reacts to the vibrations of colors.
Colors differentiate due to their differences in wavelengths. In chromotherapy, different colors are used for different ailments. Cool colors, having higher vibrations, reduce anxiety, and decrease muscle movement. Warmer colors, having lower vibrations, energize emotions, and increase muscle movement (Azeemi and Raza, 2005; Sembian and Aathi, 2015; Gupta, 2021)
Colors specifically affect the human body's energy system, the Chakra System. This system, made of frequency, encompasses our life experiences and emotions. To address emotional dysfunction manifesting from life experiences, Vivid Art Meditation uses a form of chromotherapy (color visualization) for treatment of depression and anxiety.
